PMHNP Mastery Academy is a continuing education and professional development organization dedicated to strengthening the clinical reasoning, diagnostic accuracy, and treatment decision-making skills of psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners (PMHNPs). Founded by LuAnn Grochowski, PMHNP-BC, CNL-BC, a practicing psychiatric nurse practitioner and educator, the Academy provides practical, evidence-informed training designed to bridge the gap between academic preparation and the complexities of real-world psychiatric practice.
Through structured courses, case-based learning, and proprietary clinical frameworks, including the CLARITY Method and E.D.I.T. Protocol, PMHNP Mastery Academy helps clinicians navigate complex psychiatric presentations, develop individualized treatment plans, manage psychiatric medications, and improve clinical documentation. Its educational approach emphasizes critical thinking, confident clinical decision-making, and patient-centered care, equipping healthcare professionals with practical strategies to improve the quality and safety of psychiatric treatment.
About the Cohorts
PMHNP Mastery Academy offers a continuing education series consisting of four enduring activities designed to strengthen psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners’ (PMHNPs) and other healthcare professionals’ clinical reasoning, diagnostic accuracy, treatment planning, medication management, and documentation skills. The series includes The Diagnostic Accuracy Blueprint™ (3 hours), The Treatment Accuracy Blueprint™ (3 hours), The E.D.I.T. Protocol™ for Deprescribing (1 hour), and The Documented Decision (1 hour).
Through evidence-informed instruction, structured clinical frameworks, and case-based learning, participants will explore strategies for conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments, differentiating overlapping psychiatric conditions, and developing individualized treatment plans. The curriculum addresses complex presentations involving ADHD, anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, OCD, and personality-related conditions, along with rational medication selection, treatment-resistant cases, and appropriate medication adjustments.
Participants will also learn systematic approaches to identifying unnecessary medications, developing safe tapering strategies, and distinguishing withdrawal symptoms from psychiatric symptom recurrence using the E.D.I.T. framework. Additionally, the series emphasizes comprehensive, defensible clinical documentation through the CLARITY Method, helping learners effectively communicate diagnostic reasoning and treatment decisions. Together, these activities equip healthcare professionals with practical tools to strengthen clinical confidence, improve prescribing practices, and support safe, evidence-based, patient-centered psychiatric care.
How Pinnacle Supported PMHNP Mastery Academy Through Joint Providership
Learn at Pinnacle partnered with PMHNP Mastery Academy to provide continuing education accreditation for four enduring educational activities totaling eight CE hours: The Diagnostic Accuracy Blueprint™, The Treatment Accuracy Blueprint™, The E.D.I.T. Protocol™ for Deprescribing, and The Documented Decision. Through its joint providership model, Pinnacle supported the accreditation process, including educational planning, content review, faculty disclosures, conflict-of-interest management, and alignment with accreditation standards. Pinnacle also supported the development and administration of learner evaluations, knowledge assessments, and CE certification for each course, allowing healthcare professionals to earn continuing education credit while strengthening their diagnostic reasoning, treatment planning, medication management, and clinical documentation skills. This collaboration enabled PMHNP Mastery Academy to focus on delivering practical, case-based psychiatric education while Pinnacle supported the accreditation requirements and learner credit process.
