IOL Selection and Surgical Planning in Post-Refractive Surgery Eyes

Dr. Neda Nikpoor, cataract specialist, joins Dr. Rupa Wong for a detailed exploration of cataract surgery in patients with prior refractive procedures. They break down how previous LASIK or PRK alters corneal measurements and impacts intraocular lens selection, providing practical strategies for optimizing surgical planning and visual outcomes. The discussion highlights the nuances of choosing between monofocal, EDOF, multifocal, and light-adjustable lenses, while addressing perioperative considerations such as dry eye management, contact lens washout, and repeat biometry. Drs. Nikpoor and Wong also focus on patient counseling, clarifying common misconceptions, setting realistic expectations, and helping patients achieve predictable, high-quality vision results.
