Immersive Medical Therapy

About Immersive Medical Therapy

Immersive Medical Therapy™ was founded from a deeply personal commitment to helping healthcare professionals provide meaningful mental health support when patients need it most. After caring for several severely depressed teens in 2020, founder Lindsey saw firsthand how long wait times and limited access to behavioral health services could leave both patients and their providers without adequate options for immediate care.

Determined to help bridge that gap, she combined clinical insight, research, collaboration with mental health professionals, and innovative technology to create Immersive Medical Therapy™.

Today, Immersive Medical Therapy™ supports physicians and other healthcare professionals in expanding the ways they care for patients facing depression and other mental health challenges. For women in medicine balancing demanding clinical roles with a desire to provide compassionate, whole-person care, the organization offers an innovative approach designed to make timely support more accessible. At its heart is a belief that clinicians can meet patients where they are, break down barriers to care, and make a meaningful difference when it matters most.

About Virtual Reality Use in Medicine Course

Virtual reality is rapidly expanding beyond entertainment and into clinical care. In this accredited activity, Lindsey Van Duyn, DO, introduces healthcare professionals to the science, evidence, and practical applications of virtual reality (VR) in medicine.

Through four expert-led, self-paced lectures, learners explore the foundations of VR and related immersive technologies, examine current medical applications, and consider how VR may support patients experiencing conditions such as pain, anxiety, depression, insomnia, phobias, PTSD, and other clinical concerns. The activity also addresses potential benefits, risks, and practical considerations for incorporating VR into real-world healthcare settings.

Featuring clinical examples and perspectives from healthcare professionals using VR in practice, this activity helps clinicians move beyond simply understanding the technology to evaluating when and how it may be appropriately incorporated into patient care. Learners will leave with a stronger understanding of the evolving evidence surrounding virtual reality and greater confidence in assessing its potential role as an adjunctive or alternative therapeutic tool.

How Pinnacle Supported Immersive Medical Therapy Through Joint Providership

Learn at Pinnacle partnered with Immersive Medical Therapy™ through its joint providership model, providing the accreditation infrastructure and compliance expertise needed to offer continuing education credit without requiring the organization to become independently accredited.

Pinnacle managed the accreditation process from end to end, including faculty disclosures and conflict-of-interest review, content evaluation for independence and balance, required accreditation documentation, learner evaluations, certificate generation, and reporting to applicable accrediting bodies. Pinnacle also developed the Activity Detail Page and ensured that the educational activity met established standards for accredited continuing education.

This partnership allowed Immersive Medical Therapy™ to remain focused on its clinical expertise and educational content while Pinnacle managed the complex regulatory and administrative requirements behind the scenes—creating a streamlined path for healthcare professionals to engage with innovative education while earning recognized continuing education credit.
