Sports Medicine Physician, Radio Host, Team Doctor
As a double board-certified doctor in sports medicine and physical medicine and rehabilitation, Dr. Iafrate manages a wide variety of sports injuries using a patient-centered approach. Her goal is to maximize athletes’ physical function and optimize their quality of life.
A native of Ontario, Canada, Dr. Iafrate graduated with her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University in 2012. She then went on to complete her residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in 2016, and her fellowship in sports medicine at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinic in 2017.
Teaching students at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, she serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor within both the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. She was also recently named the Director of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Education, as well as the Director of Medical Social Media for the Department of Orthopedics at NYU Langone Health.
Dr. Iafrate is a New York Times Super Doctor Rising Star in Sports Medicine, and has appeared on various media outlets including CNN, Fox News, Pix11, and New York Post to discuss sports-related healthcare topics. She is also host of the Orthopedics show on Doctor Radio on Sirius XM. She covers dance performances and sporting events in the NYC area and is a team physician for the US ski team. She is frequently asked to lecture nationally and internationally on topics related to musculoskeletal ultrasound, tendinopathies, and dance medicine.
