Elisabeth Potter, MD

Pinnacle Conference 2026 Speaker

Plastic Surgeon, Reconstructive Specialist, Advocate

Dr. Elisabeth Potter is a board-certified plastic surgeon and nationally recognized advocate for patient rights in breast reconstruction. A graduate of Princeton University (BA in Molecular Biology) and Emory University School of Medicine (MD), she completed her Plastic Surgery Integrated Residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and advanced fellowship training in Reconstructive Plastic Surgery and Microsurgery at MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Dr. Potter is one of the nation’s leading experts in natural breast reconstruction, with over 1,000 DIEP flap procedures performed. She specializes in helping patients achieve durable, natural outcomes after breast cancer, offering an alternative to implants with fewer complications. Beyond cancer care, she continues to innovate in the use of DIEP flaps for complex reconstructive needs.

Based in Austin, Texas, Dr. Potter is the founder of her private practice and is currently developing the Red Bud Surgery Center. She also serves as President of the Community Breast Reconstruction Alliance (CBRA), a nonprofit she established in response to federal policy changes that threatened patient access to advanced reconstructive options. Her work focuses on challenging insurer-driven decision-making, advocating against CMS code rollbacks, and ensuring that surgical decisions remain between doctor and patient.

Her advocacy and clinical expertise have been featured on PBS NewsHour, CBS, The Today Show, and across major publications including Allure and ClearHealthCosts. She has also shared her perspective on podcasts such as How I Doctor, More Than Pink, and The Resilience Factor. Known for her direct, informed, and emotionally grounded communication style, Dr. Potter has built a strong digital presence, with her patient advocacy efforts reaching millions on TikTok (@drelisabethpotter), Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

She is a member of the Medical Advisory Board for Living Beyond Breast Cancer and works closely with national advocates and surgical leaders to expand access to high-quality reconstruction. Her career reflects a deep commitment to both clinical excellence and empowering patients to reclaim control over their health and healing.
