Refuge Midwifery

About Refuge Midwifery

Founded by Victoria Dean, CPM, LM, Refuge Midwifery is a leading midwifery practice transforming the way families experience fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum care. With extensive experience attending over 300 births in home, birth center, and hospital settings, Victoria brings together deep clinical expertise, personalized care, and a compassionate, empowering approach that supports families through every stage of the childbearing year. Refuge Midwifery specializes in home birth, fertility support, intrauterine insemination (IUI), newborn wellness, and postpartum recovery, serving the greater Philadelphia and South Jersey areas with a commitment to inclusivity for all family structures.

Victoria’s vision for Refuge Midwifery grew from a desire to provide grounded, personalized, and empowering care that centers the needs and choices of families. Recognizing that traditional obstetric care can often feel impersonal or restrictive, she created a practice that blends evidence-based clinical guidance with hands-on support, education, and advocacy. Through Refuge Midwifery, families receive attentive, patient-centered care in their homes, building confidence, comfort, and connection during fertility planning, pregnancy, labor, and beyond. More than a midwifery practice, Refuge Midwifery fosters a supportive community where families are guided, informed, and celebrated throughout their reproductive journey.

About IUI for Midwives

IUI for Midwives is a premier, practitioner-focused training experience designed to equip midwives, nurse practitioners, OB/GYNs, and physician assistants with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to provide unmedicated Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) to LGBTQ+ and solo parents. This comprehensive five-week online course goes far beyond lectures, offering evidence-based guidance, practical strategies, and real-world clinical insights that empower participants to integrate IUI services seamlessly into their practice while supporting a diverse patient population with clarity and compassion.

This immersive program unites leading voices in midwifery and fertility care who are redefining how reproductive care is delivered. Participants will explore critical areas including LGBTQ+ fertility needs, cycle tracking, preconception care, and the step-by-step IUI procedure. Through structured online classes, interactive discussions, and a hands-on in-person skills workshop, midwives will gain actionable skills, deepen their understanding of trans and queer care, and leave equipped to enhance both patient outcomes and their clinical practice. More than a training course, IUI for Midwives fosters a professional community dedicated to excellence, inclusivity, and growth in reproductive healthcare.
